The Little House

A beloved classic for over 70 years and the winner of the Caldecott Medal in 1942, The Little House’s story begins in a bucolic rural setting, but as time passes the countryside becomes urbanized, until it is transformed in a big city replete with noise, skyscrapers, trains stations and industrialization.

The Little House is personified as a female and has thoughts and emotions. As the environment changes around The Little House, her physical and psychological state degrades and she discovers she does not like living in the city and returns home to the countryside.

This special 70th Anniversary Edition is hardcover with a new introduction by the author’s son, sculptor Aris Demetrios, as well as an audio CD of the story.
